Troop meetings are held every Tuesday night at St. Matthews United Methodist Church on Little River Turnpike (Rt 236). Meetings begin at 7:15PM and usually end at 8:30PM. Generally, the Troop as a whole does not meet on legal holidays, FCPS holidays, and other special occasions (e.g., PLC meetings and Courts of Honor), but Scouts should check with their Patrol Leader or the Troop web site for additional information.
Following (or with coordination) prior to the meeting, the Scouts can choose to discuss patrol concerns, work with a merit badge counselor, etc.
The following are some guidelines for Troop meetings:
- Class B is the required uniform, unless specifically announced by the SPL or PLC in advance.
- Electronic devices, such as phones and gaming devices, ARE NOT APPROPRIATE for use during the meeting unless by exception in support of an activity or requirement. Phones may be used once meeting is complete.
- Scouts remain in the meeting room for the entire meeting, unless instructed by an adult or the SPL to go elsedwhere with a buddy.
- The Troop strongly encourages parents to make alternate arrangements for siblings so that they do not have to attend regular Troop meetings.
- Parents are welcome to utilize the “parents’ room” during the conduct of the meeting should they desire to remain at St. Mathews for the duration of the meeting.
- Parents are welcome at the meetings. Parents should not participate in meeting unless asked to do so by the SPL or the Scoutmaster. Parents who wish to hear closing announcements should plan to arrive before 8:30PM.
Inclement Weather
Troop 1525 follows the Fairfax County Public School inclement weather rules. If school is cancelled or there is an early dismissal due to inclement weather, Troop 1525 activities are cancelled. Scouts and parents should check their email for updates from the Troop/Committee.
