One-on-one contact between adults and youth members is prohibited. In situations requiring a personal conference, such as a Scoutmaster conference, the meeting is to be conducted with the knowledge and in view of other adults and/or youth.

The policies of two-deep leadership and no one-on-one contact between adults and youth members also apply to digital communication. Leaders may not have one-on-one private online communications or engage one-on-one in other digital activities (games, social media, etc.) with youth members. Leaders should copy a parent and another leader in digital and online communication, ensuring no one-on-one contact takes place in text, social media, or other forms of online or digital communication.

Direct Communication

Communications within the Troop is expected to be primarily through the Scouts.  Parents should encourage Scouts to maintain close contact with their Patrol members and Patrol Leaders regarding questions about Troop activities.  Scouts using email directly to adult leadership must courtesy copy (CC) their parents.  Scouts utilizing email from their parent’s email account should identify themselves clearly in the message and also CC their parent on the message to ensure visibility to the parent.

Messages send through Troop Track to a youth's email address will automatically send a copy to the youth's parents.

Roster

Troop 1525 maintains a telephone and e-mail roster within its Troop Track administrative system and updates it periodically. Access is only granted to Scouts and their parents. Parents see all email sent to their Scout(s). Within Troop Track the Troop also utilizes a “collective” email address group to reach all families in the Troop. Usage of the “collective” email address group should be restricted to Troop related, Scouting sponsored events or Scouting related fund-raising activities. This email address should not be used for personal gain or sharing non-Scouting related information. The Troop uses both telephone, including texts, and e-mail to contact Scouts and their families concerning program events and real-time changes.

Online Presence

The Troop uses the weekly newsletter sent via email to update the troop and parents on upcoming activities, distribute permission slips and provide other information to the Scouts and their parents.  Parents, please share appropriate information with you Scout as many do not receive this newsletter.

The troop maintains this website that contains useful information pertaining the Troop schedule, forms, and links to other useful websites.

Additionally, Troop 1525 maintains a Facebook page to share Scouting relevant posts and to share photos of Troop events with the entire Troop 1525 Scouting Community.  The links to the web and social media are on the Troops Intranet available to troop members only.
